Department of microbiology was established in 2001 as self financing (Restructured) course in SKP government degree college, Guntakal, AP, India. The department has been offering three years UG program in microbiology.  It is now recognized as centre of excellence in teaching and learning Microbiology with respect to undergraduate studies in the area of Andhra Pradesh.  Under these courses students are given exhaustive training and basic knowledge of Microbiology, Microbial Biochemistry and Metabolism, Microbial Genetics and Molecular biology, Immunology, Environmental and Agricultural microbiology, Food and Industrial Microbiology. Department has well equipped spacious laboratory for UG students with sophisticated instruments set ups, computers and internet facility as well as departmental library.
